Jacqulyn “Tootie” Baldes, 92, of Greenfield, died Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Carlinville Area Hospital. She was born December 10, 1931 in Carrollton, to James W. and Edrie Opal (Kessinger) Lane. She married Lyndell “Cork” Baldes and they later divorced.
Surviving are her daughters, Barbara Bailey of Greenfield, Jeannie Donelan of Springfield, Patty (Roger) Fanning and Teresa (Roger) Triplett both of Greenfield, her grandchildren, Gina Suttles, Curtis Guthrie, James Donelan, Kevin Guthrie, Eric Bailey, Steven Donelan, and Anna Triplett, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, two nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters-in-law, Lamont and Anna Mae Lane and George and Audrie Lane.
Tootie loved and served her Lord as a member of the Charity Southern Baptist Church in Greenfield. She made sure that grieving families received a bible from the church at the time of their loss and wrote countless greeting cards to members for all occasions. She worked at the Dairy Dell in Greenfield and retired from Hertzberg New Method Bindery in Jacksonville. She enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, fishing and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Thursday, April 4th, at the Charity Southern Baptist Church in Greenfield. Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at the church. Burial will follow at the Hickory Grove Cemetery near Wrights. Memorials are suggested to the Church or the Greene County We Care Food Pantry.
