Bobby Lee Cox, 77, of Girard, died Saturday, October 23, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born October 10, 1944 in Greenfield to Byron and Wilma (Coates) Cox. He married Linda Melvin, July 10, 1970 at the Greenfield United Methodist Church, and she survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Delores Nash.
Bobby served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked as a field engineer maintaining and repairing optical scanning equipment. He loved to read, and debate issues, and was very knowledgeable. He also loved his close group of friends, his dogs, and listening to jazz and the blues.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a graveside service will be held Saturday, October 30, at 10 am at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield. Memorials are suggested to the Greenfield Public Library, or the Animal Protection League in Springfield. The Shields-Bishop Funeral Home is assisting the family.
