Carolyn Sue (Baker) Moran, 82, of Carrollton, IL passed away Oct. 13, 2023, at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with cancer.
Carolyn was born Feb. 16, 1941, in Macoupin County IL to W. Wayne and Colline (Johnson) Baker. She graduated with the Carlinville High School class of 1958.
March 21, 1959, she married Leslie Moran and together they had 9 children. Carolyn helped Leslie farm at various locations in Illinois and in Sun Prairie, WI. After closing up the dairy at Rockbridge, they resided in Carrollton, Il.
Carolyn was a cook at various establishments including the Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She retired to do more of what she enjoyed: baking, gardening, quilting and spending time with the little ones (and big ones).
She is survived by her husband, Leslie, of Carrollton, IL; a sister, Donna Langley of Carlinville, IL; her children: Oliver and Debra (Engel), Greenfield, IL; Terry and Kim (Goodall), Medora, IL; Sherri and Leo Smith, Williamsburg, IA; Michael, Carrollton, IL; Patrick, Rockbridge, IL; Shanell and Bryan Roth, Carrollton, IL; Dan and special friend, Carrie Schnelton, Wrights, IL and Shasta Moran, Huron, SD.
Carolyn’s grandchildren include Kenneth, Michelle, Leslie, Joshua, Joseph, Andrew, Kevin, Dustin, Kaitlyn and Shane Moran, Jennifer Pfleger, Sandra Henderson, Megan Paulson, Melissa Haug, Chuck Smith, Courtney Adrian, Kalvin, Klinton, Kylee, Kaleb and Karolyne Roth, Emily Terenzio, Cameron Heath, Bri, Cecil, Daniel and Zachary Schnelton, Chris, Logan and Montana Sprong, Jaycee, Ithaca and Haven Groenewold. She also has 33 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and ‘Connie Baker’, her in-laws, Oliver and Elnora Moran, a brother, Gary Baker and her son Larry.
A memorial visitation will be held at Shields-Bishop Funeral Home, 4-7 pm, Saturday, October 28, 2023, in Greenfield, IL, a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorials can be made to Residential Hospice, Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dan or Shasta Moran.
