Clarence L. “Chuck” Blanton, 82, of Scottville, passed away, Thursday, June 30, at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born March 2, 1940 in Ashland, KY. to Clarence A. and Mary A. (Blevins) Blanton. He married Linda Burton, August 6, 1960 in Hitchens, KY. and she survives.
Also surviving are their four sons, Jeff (Rhonda Jo), of Scottville, Richard (Jennifer) of Jacksonville, David (Ann) of Carrollton, and Chris (Brandi) of Jacksonville, Eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, a sister, Sarah Ann Burton of Grayson, KY., and a brother, Michael Blanton of Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as sister, Phyllis, and a step-sister, Betty.
Chuck served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish. He worked in construction his entire life. He loved his Lord, and touched many lives sharing the gospel with many. He pastored the Nortonville Baptist Church for 19 years. He loved his family dearly, and will be missed by all that knew him.
As per his request, cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 12, at 11 am, at the Grace Baptist Church in Palmyra. A visitation will be held from 9 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church. The Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield is assisting the family.
