Della Imogene Kinser, 85 of Greenfield, died May 9, 2017, at the White Hall Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born on February 29, 1932, in Greene County, IL, to John Harley and Ida Irene (Bowers) Allen. She married Guy O. Kinser, Jr. on December 9, 1951, at the Rockbridge Baptist Church in Rockbridge, IL, and he survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Guylia (David) Grigsby of Hillsboro, four sons, Benjamin (Suzi) Kinser of Winchester, Michael (Sherry) Kinser of Greenfield, John (Gina) Kinser of Carlinville, and James Kinser of Greenfield, fifteen grandchildren, Philip (Mark Fong) Grigsby, Timothy Grigsby, Angela (Ryker) Scott, Melissa (Chris) McMillen, Julie Kinser, Rachel Kinser, Joseph (Beth) Kinser, Joshua (Kayla) Kinser, Kaitlin (Jeffrey) Wilhite, Zain Kinser, Zoe Kinser, Kate (John) Borgens and Derek Grey, ten great-grandchildren, Venessa Scott, Jordan and Breanna McMillen, Kylie, Ava, Duke , and Cullan Kinser, Isabella, Chase, and Gabriel Borgens. She is also survived by a brother Raymond (Carolyn) Allen of Greenfield and three sisters, Ruby McMurl of Macomb, Lois Baker of Springfield, and Joyce Harbaugh of Rushville, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Rosemary Rives, Lucy Ridder and Elizabeth Allen, two brothers, William Allen and Edgar Allen, and a grandson, Quinten Kinser.
Della was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family was the center of her life. She had been a Brownie scout leader, 4-H leader, an election judge, member of Pork Producers and home extension. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Group, Catholic Daughters of America and had taught catechism classes. She also enjoyed crafts, sewing, and gardening.
Visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2017, from 5 pm until 7 pm at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at the St. Michael’s Church. Burial will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery, north of Greenfield. Memorials are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation or masses for the church.
