Denny L. Settles

Denny L. Settles, 77, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, August 14, at the Grove Health and Rehab Center in Jacksonville.  He was born November 25, 1946 in Eldred to Lawrence W. and Helen V. (Ruyle) Settles. He married Wendy Wood September 11, 1965 in Greenfield, and they were later divorced.

Survivors include,  a daughter, Barbara (Chad) Gaige of Jacksonville, sons, Scott Settles of Jacksonville and Austin Settles of Greenfield, daughter-in-law, Kim Settles of Greenfield,  grandchildren, Caleb Settles, Chelsey Vetter, Hannah Bugg, Dakota Settles, Sara Morton, Stephanie Vetter, and Brady Settles, great-grandchildren, Aleigha Collett and Liam Gourley, sisters, Kathy Varble, Carol Jackson, Patsy Steward, Ruth Ann Langley, and Marcia Settles, brothers, Rick Settles and Terry Settles, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Steven Settles and a sister, Nancy Hillis.

Denny worked for Schirz Concrete in Greenfield for many years.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved spending time with family.

Cremation rites will be accorded, A memorial service will be held at 7 pm Thursday, August 22 at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. Visitation will be from 4pm until time of service. Interment will be at the Pine Tree Cemetery in Patterson at a later date.
