Donald Gene Baker, 75, of Dupo, died Saturday, November 4, at the Caseyville Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born December 28, 1941 in Hettick to Roy and Esther (Scharfenberg) Baker. He married Patricia Graham and had two daughters, Rachel and Cindy. He then married Terry Swift, and they had a daughter Dawn and stepson Ricky. He then married Betty Ann Tucker, and had a step daughter, Tina.
He is survived by his daughters, Rachel ( Kregg) Moxley of Fairview Heights, Il., Dawn Baker of Ballwin, Mo., a stepson Ricky Swift of Ballwin, Mo., former wife Betty Tucker, sisters, Evelyn Sorensen of Mayer, Az., Dorothy Johnson of South Roxana, Il., Ruth Ballard of Missouri City, Tx., and Margaret (Delbert) Greenwood of Kane, Il., a brother, Wayne (Jane) Baker of Bethalto, Il., grandchildren, Laci Hart, Rachel Childers, Jordan Childers, and Morris Macke III, and two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Catherine, Marcella, and Joyce, brother, Gilbert, , a daughter, Cindy Baker, granddaughter, Sarah Childers, and stepdaughter, Tina Fergerson.
Don was a 1959 graduate from Greenfield High School and worked for Missouri and Union Pacific Railroads from 1968 until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, football, and baseball. He was a member of the Dupo American Legion, Columbia Sportsman Club, and the Local 1402 UTU.
Visitation will be from Thursday, November 9th from 9am until time of funeral at 11 am at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial will follow at the Hickory Cemetery near Wrights.
