Doris Anne (Schnelten) Finley, 89, of Greenfield, died Tuesday, February 14, at her home. She was born in Greene County October 14, 1927 to John and Anna (Wonsewitz) Schnelten. She married Charles Wayne Finley November 26, 1946 at St Johns Catholic Church in Carrollton and after 64 years of marriage, he preceded her in death December 17, 2010.
Surviving is a sister, Mary (Don) Steinacher of Carrollton, a special great-nephew, Brian Schnelten of Carrollton, and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Rosalie, and a brother John.
Doris attended Dover grade school and St. John's Catholic High School in Carrollton for two years and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1945. She worked for Production Farm Credit in Carrollton for forty years, retiring March 31, 1986. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the St. Michael's Ladies Club. She served as the treasurer for the Ladies Club as well as Woodbine Country Club for many years. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and bowling, and loved her cat, Boo-Boo.
Visitation will be at St. Michael Church in Greenfield, Friday, February 17 from 9 until 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am with burial to follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield. Memorials are requested to the St. Johns School in Carrollton.
