Dorothy L. Campbell, 85, formerly of Greenfield, died Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton. She was born November 27, 1936, in Rockbridge, one of eighteen children of Odren “Sparky” and Ruby (Fry) Walden. She was married to Billy Lanquist, and he preceded her in death in 1974.
Surviving is a son, John of Alton, two step-daughters, Debbie (Neil) of Troy, MO. And Kathy (Lanny) in Texas, and a step-son, Jeff (Shelly), five sisters, Opal (Joe) Lawson of Jacksonville, Wanda (Roy) Motley and Donna Dorks, both of Rockbridge, Patty (Mike) Adams of Jacksonville, and Jackie McAdams of Greenfield, three brothers, Ernie, Lou (Ann), and Jim (Debbie), all of Rockbridge, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by nine brothers, Webb, Don, Bill, Skid, Herman, Spark, Everett, Dickie, and Paul.
Dorothy was a nurse, working for many years in Missouri. She loved spending time with her family. She will be missed.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday, March 10, at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. Visitation will be from 9 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield. Memorials are suggested to Illinois Senior Protective Services (Abuse Center).
