Dorothy (Bell) Scott

     Dorothy (Bell) Scott, 92, of Greenfield, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.  She was born July 26, 1924 in Carrollton to Lavern and Meddie (Freer) Bell.  She married Leonard D. “L.D.” Scott October 9, 1947, and he preceded her in death December 21, 2015. 

     Surviving is a daughter, Donna (Baxter) Maggart of Greenfield, a son, James Scott (Sue Wise) of Rockbridge, thirteen grandchildren, Kyle, Kristen, Jeb, Jed, Mollie, Baxie, Heather, Laury, Beth, Katie, Tony, Wesley, and Vanessa, twelve great-grandchildren, a great-great-great niece and a very special caregiver, Brandie Cox.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Mary and Lois (brother-in-law Richard) Scott.

     Dorothy was a member of the Rockbridge United Methodist Church.  She loved camping,  high school sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.  She loved her family, especially her grandchildren that were a very big part of her life.

     Visitation will be Saturday, June 3, from 9 until 11 am at the Rockbridge United Methodist Church where funeral services will follow at 11 am.  Burial will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield.  Memorials are suggested to the church or the Greene County Meals on Wheels.  The Shields-Bishop Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and online condolences can be left at shields-bishopfh.com.
