Edna L. Plogger, 90, of Rockbridge, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born May 26, 1927, in Carrollton to Athen Sr. and Cecelia (Kane) Vinyard. She married Hal Plogger October 25, 1946, and together they raised 13 children. He preceded her in death September 28, 2010.
Surviving are five daughters, Sherry (Garry) White of Greenfield, Linda (Tom) Prough of Carrollton, Mary Kaye (Mike) Varble of Carrollton, Barb (Chris) Teaney of Jacksonville, and Jeanne (David) Steinacher of Carrollton, six sons, Kenny (Rita) of Greenfield, Bob (Pam) of Greenfield, John (Becky) of Rockbridge, Mick (Christy) of Rockbridge, Ron (Jan) of Greenfield, and Dan (Kim) of (High Ridge, Mo.), 44 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, sisters, Aggie Piper of Greenfield, and Kay Reno of Jerseyville, and a brother, George Vinyard of Griggsville. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Elhoffer, a son, Bill Plogger, grandchildren Bobbi Jo Waters, Nicholas Plogger, Lisa Plogger, and great-granddaughter, Emily Chaudoin, a sister, Mary Costello, and two brothers, Athen Jr. and Herb.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother to many. She worked as a homemaker most of her life until later on once her children were grown she took a job at Frank's Woodworking Shop. During her lifetime she enjoyed farm life, gardening, raising animals, canning, mowing, fishing, cooking, camping, playing the accordion, babysitting and just enjoying outdoors. A Mother is the only person on Earth who can divide her love among 13 children and each child still have all her love.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, May 25, at the First Baptist Church north of Greenfield. Visitation will be Thursday, May 24 from 3 until 7 pm at the church. Burial will follow at the Witt Cemetery near Rockbridge. Memorials are suggested to the Rockbridge United Methodist Church or BJC Hospice.
