Eileen Rives Scott

Eileen Rives Scott, 91, of Greenfield, died Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Willow Rose Nursing Home in Jerseyville.  She was born April 10, 1926 in Greenfield to George Jr. "Cotton" and Bernice (Cole) Rives.  She married John L Scott April 22, 1949, in Greenfield, and he preceded her in death December 20, 2008.  

     Surviving are two daughters, Jolleen Scott of Jerseyville, and Josena S. (Beecher) Wilhelm of Terre Haute, In., one son, John R. Scott of Greenfield, two grandchildren, Christian and Jasmine, three step-grandchildren Julie, Janene, and Darren, seven great-grandchildren two brothers, Willard (Ann) Rives of Carlinville, and Earlom Rives of Canton, and several nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, George Rives.

     Eileen attended Vogue School of design in Chicago, she was a bookkeeper, seamstress, and was actively involved in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and received her Grand Cross of Color.  She was a member of the Greenfield United Methodist Church and served as an election judge for many years. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

     A funeral will be held Saturday, March 31, at 4 pm at the Greenfield First Baptist Church.  Visitation will be from 3 until time of service at the church.  Burial will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield.  Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or the United Methodist Church both of Greenfield.  Shields-Bishop Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and online condolences can be left at shields-bishopfh.com.
