Erick Krieg, Jr. 88, formerly of Greenfield and Jacksonville, died Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the Veteran’s Home in Quincy, Illinois. He was born February 17, 1936 in Virginia, IL. to Erick W. Sr. and Edith L. (Oetgen) Krieg. He married Donna Lou McLain July 3, 1958 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arenzville, IL. and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Cynthia (Dennis) Jouett of Jerseyville, Bryan (Diana) Krieg of Arenzville, Alison (John) Herndon of Godfrey, Dwight (Karen) Krieg of Winchester and Tina (Dan) Goode of Greenfield, his grandchildren, Bradley Krieg (Kathryn), Sarah Brunaugh (Nathan), Jared Krieg (Jamie), David Jouett (Lanie), Benjamin Herndon (Samantha), Matthew Herndon (Jennifer), Justin Goode (Michaela) and Travis Goode (Karson), his step grandchildren, Brittany Howland and Rochelle (Brock) Koelz, and his great-grandchildren, Aden Brunaugh, Alaina Krieg, Nolan Krieg, Maddox Krieg, Kaylen Krieg, Bryson Krieg, Adelyn Goode, Lily Herndon, Hudson Goode and Miller Goode.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Megan Lee Jouett, and siblings Alberta Smith, Chester Krieg, William Krieg, Ruth Saylor, Naomi Cox and Carolyn Fouts.
Erick served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 until 1962. He worked as a gas utility man for C.I.P.S., later Ameren, for forty years. He also served on the Greenfield City Council, Greenfield Volunteer Fire Protection District and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, American Legion and the Greenfield Lions Club.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service with full military rites conducted by the Tri-County Honor Guard will be held at 11 am, Friday, October 11, at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield.
