Gary W. McEvers, 76, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, September, 2, 2021 at Passavant Hospital. He was born June 18, 1945 in Glasgow, IL. to Harold and Leona (Blackburn) McEvers. He married DeAnna Blackburn, May 2, 1964, in Roodhouse, and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Ron (Kathy) McEvers of Wrights, Gary W. (Terri) of Jacksonville, and Michael McEvers of Greenfield, his grandchildren, Heather, who was raised by Gary and DeAnna, Zach, Sean, Jarrod, Katelyn, Kendra, Bubba, Mason, Abby, Kyleigh, Leah, Paislee, and Lincoln, his great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Jozey, Hadily, Peyton, Ezra, Mattisyn, Meah, Brinley, Oakley, Samson, Maeve, and Carson, and his sisters, Mary Jane (Jim) Knox, Brenda (Larry) Robinson, and Debbie McEvers.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Genna McEvers, a sister, Nancy Smith, and brothers, Charles, Harold and Steven.
Gary worked for Anderson-Clayton and farmed, for a time. He was a trucker, and most recently was employed by Boente Gas. He never met a stranger, and was a jack of all trades. He mostly loved following his children and grandchildren in all their activities. He loved taking trips to Branson, and taking grandchildren with him. He will be missed.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, September 7, at 10:30 am at the Charity Southern Baptist Church where he attended weekly services. Visitation will be from 9 am until time of service. Burial will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield.
