Gladys Lenora (Goode) Cochran, 90, went to be with the Lord, and her husband that she loved and missed dearly. She was surrounded by her loving family when she passed at 3:58 am Wednesday, May 3, 2023. She was born August 11, 1932 in Greene County, to Omer and Starcy (Stinnet) Goode. She married Gene Cochran August 29, 1950, and he preceded her in death June 7, 2013.
Surviving are her children, Larry (companion Arlene Dawdy) and Sharon Ruyle both of Carrollton, Gary Cochran and Starla Talley both of Greenfield, ten grandchildren, Brian (Nicole) Ruyle, Kevin Ruyle, Jeanette (Chris) Goldberg, Anna (Eddie) Gansz, Rachel Roberts, Andy (companion Heather Chapman), Michael May, Crissi (Nathan) Heckrodt, Elysia (Dennis) Riggs and Amanda (Aaron) Beavers, great-grandchildren, Charleigh, Barrett and Lettie Ganz, Finley and Ollie Heckrodt, Haley Jones, Karissa Ruyle, Brianna and Faith Roberts, “Miss Muffet” Leanna Riggs, Hunter Martin, Elana, Christopher, Damien, Sophia and Legand Goldberg, Sophie Cochran, Bently, Adi and Mikaylee Talley, and Kolby, Henley, and Reily Beavers, one brother Richard (Eileen) Goode of Greenfield, and two sisters, Dovie Skaggs of Chatham and Linda Campbell of Carrollton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Vicky Drennan, sons-in-law, Paul Drennan and Jim Ruyle, granddaughter Mary Collins, two sisters Imogene Williams and Margorie Range, and four brothers, Charles, John, Benjamin, and Omer D. Goode.
Gladys loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were the love and joy of her life. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and making homemade gifts for her family. She loved working word search and crossword puzzles, playing solitaire on her I-pad, and enjoyed fishing. She enjoyed watching her grandkids participate in sports, and loved to watch and cheer on the St. Louis Cardinals. She worked hard on their farm and in the garden. She worked for Goode’s Grocery and was a cook for the Greenfield Schools and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Union Ladies Club.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 7, from 3 until 6 pm at the First Baptist Church north of Greenfield where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Union Cemetery or BJC Hospice. The Shields-Bishop Funeral Home is assisting the family.
