Gladys A. (Sanker) Reese

Gladys A. Reese, 95, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, October 20, at Advocate BroMenn Hospital in Bloomington.  She had recently moved to Normal, IL to live with her son and daughter-in-law. She was born June 1, 1923 in Warrenton, MO. to Henry and Annette H. Sanker.  She married Virgil Reese October 23, 1948 in Warrenton and he preceded her in death July 16, 2012.

 

Surviving are  two sons, Randy (Debbie) of Normal and David of Greenfield, four grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Galanos, Heather (Ted) Broeker, Chris (Kate) Melzer, and Zachary Reese, two great- grandchildren, Brody and Monroe, nephews Dale and Rich, and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, Dylan, and three sisters, Erna Everding, Viola Sanker, and Vera Mae Reese.

 

Gladys was a homemaker, and had worked at Pennington's Variety, Riding's Dry Goods, and Finney's Western Auto.  She was an active member of the Greenfield United Methodist Church, the Warrenton VFW Auxiliary, and the United Methodist's Womens group.

 

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 23, from 9 am until time of funeral at 11 at the Greenfield United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church.  The Shields-Bishop Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, and online condolences can be left at shields-bishopfh.com
