Guy O. "Red" Kinser Jr. died at home Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 91 years of age. He was born July 30, 1927 in Wood River, IL., to Guy O. Sr. and Helen (Rawe) Kinser He married Della Allen on December 9, 1951 at Rockbridge Baptist church in Rockbridge IL., and she preceded him in death in May 9, 2017.
Surviving is a daughter, Guylia (David) Grigsby of Hillsboro; four sons, Benjamin (Suzi) Kinser of Winchester; Michael (Sherry) Kinser of Greenfield, John (Gina) Kinser of Carlinville, and James Kinser of Greenfield; thirteen grandchildren, Philip(Mark Fong) Grigsby, Timothy Grigsby, Angela (Ryker) Scott, Melissa (Chris) McMillen, Julie Kinser, Rachel Kinser, Joe (Beth) Kinser, Josh (Kayla) Kinser, Kaitlin (Jeffrey) Wilhite, Zain Kinser, Zoe Kinser, Katie (John) Borgens, and Derek Grey; eleven great grandchildren, Venessa Scott, Jordan and Breanna McMillen; Kylie, Ava, Duke Kinser, Cullan and Bronson Kinser: Isabella, Chase, Gabriel Borgens; one sister Jane (Bud) Dorethy of Colchester, IL.; several neices and nephews, and two sisters-in-law, Donna and Helen. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Russ Kinser and Bill Kinser, and one grandson, Quentin Kinser
Guy graduated in 1945 from Greenfield High School then served in World War II in the Army Air Forces. He was a retired farmer, served on the Greene County Board, a precinct committeeman, multi-township assessor, 4-H leader, and a licensed real estate broker. He enjoyed being a Wal-Mart greeter for at least ten years. He was a member of the Greenfield Sportsman's Club, St. Michaels Men's Club and the American Legion where he served as honor/color guard with Fitzsimmons Post # 225.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Saturday, October 13, at the St. Michael Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Friday, October 12 from 4 until 7 pm at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial, with full military rites provided by the Tri-County Honor Guard, will be at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield. Memorials are suggested to the St. Michael's Men's club or masses.
