Hal Barnes Jr

  Hal Barnes Jr. 65, of White Hall, died Monday, December 18, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born June 21, 1952 in Carrollton to Hal Sr. and Lauralea (Scoggins) Barnes.  He married Chris McGlauphlen February 1, 1974 in Carrollton, and she survives.

     Also surviving are two sons; Charles L. (fiance Jen Wankel) Barnes of Chapin, and Michael Barnes of Minnesota, two grandsons, Dalton and Derek Barnes of Carrollton; three sisters, Grace (Tony) Woods of Athensville, Ann (Jim) Plogger of Springfield, and Cathy (Oliver) Huff of Chesterfield, three brothers, Steve, Paul, and Donnie all of Rockbridge.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

     Hal worked for area farmers his entire life, and helped his wife deliver the Jacksonville Journal Courier for the past 11 years.  He enjoyed tractor pulls and loved spending time with family.

     Cremation rites will be accorded and there will be a time of remembrance at 10:30 am Wednesday, December 27, at the Athensville Baptist Church hall.  Memorials are requested to the family to help with funeral expenses.  Shields-Bishop Funeral Home is assisting the family and online condolences can be left at shields-bishopfh.com
