Jack McManus, 81, of Rockbridge, died Monday, January 6, 2024, at Evercare Nursing Home in Jerseyville. He was born July 2, 1943, in Rockbridge to Walter and Marjorie (Rathgeber) McManus. He married Nina Stewart, May 7, 1966 at the Rockbridge Methodist Church and she survives.
He is also survived by his son, Michael (Bethany) McManus of Greenfield, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Walter McManus Jr., two sisters, Betty McManus and Mary Maquire.
Jack was a carpenter by trade, an active member of the Rockbridge Methodist Church and went on several mission trips to Chile. He served on the Rockbridge Fire Department for 47 years and served on the Rockbridge Village Board for many years, some of those years as the mayor. He also served on the Witt Cemetery Board and cared for cemetery for many years.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, January 14, at the Rockbridge Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9 am until time of memorial service. Interment will follow at the Witt Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the family in care of the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home, 604 Walnut St., Greenfield, Illinois 62044.
