James P. Thaxton died April 03, 2013 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. He was 87. He was born March 8, 1926 to Perry and Zella Thaxton. He married Mildred Lyles in November 1950, and she preceded him in death July 7, 2008.
He is survived by one son, Mike (Linda) Thaxton of Orlando, FL., four granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nola Mayberry and a son, George P. Thaxton.
He was a member of the Pleasant Point Baptist Church. He was employed by Nell Chevrolet, Morrow Brothers Ford, and Keith Sanson. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He served his country during World War II.
Mr. Thaxton's body was donated to medical science in 2013 followed by cremation. His ashes will be interred at noon, Friday, June 15 at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield.
