Janice Marie (Ruyle) Hardwick

Janice Marie (Ruyle) Hardwick, 70, of White Hall, IL died Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, IL. She was born August 31, 1952 to Arthur (RC) and Ila Jeanette (Lawson) Ruyle.

Survivors include: a daughter, Jody (Chad) Woods of Hettick, two grandchildren Clayton Woods and Claire Woods of Hettick, who were her world. Two brothers, Brad (Patty) Ruyle, Rex Ruyle, three sisters Trish Walkington, Janelle (Mick) Griffith, and Debbie (Randy) Davis all of Carrollton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Janice loved her family like no other, they all meant everything to her.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son Arthur Eugene Hardwick, and a sister-in-law Kimberly Ruyle.

Janice worked as a bartender for a long time in her younger years. She served as a playground monitor for the Carrollton Elementary School for a few years. She also was a cook for many years, at the Wagon Wheel, Goetten's Oasis, and her final place of work was in the deli at the Carrollton IGA. She never knew a stranger, loved her family and friends at White Hall Nursing and Rehab and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Most of all she loved everything her grandkids were doing and always wanted to see pictures.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 22, at 11:00 a.m. at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home with burial to follow at Eldred Memorial Gardens.
