Jeffrey Jay Williams, 58, of Brighton, and formerly of Greenfield, died Tuesday, February 2, at Jerseyville Hospital. He was born October 6, 1962, in Jacksonville, to Charles “Bud” and Mary Williams, and his mother survives. He married Sandy Scott, and they later divorced.
Also surviving are two daughters, Morgan Williams of Brighton, and Courtney (Jared) Gueldener of Moro, a grandson, Benjamin Williams of Brighton, two sisters, Diana (Steve) Schirz of Greenfield, twin sister Julie Williams of Keosauqua, IA, one brother, Kevin (Diane) Williams of Rockbridge, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad and a sister, Lori Joyce.
Jeff was a 1980 graduate of Greenfield High School where he was very active in sports. His love of sports continued throughout his life as he followed several teams in several sports. He began a career in trucking when he was 18 and continued for many years. He worked for his dad for a time at Williams Propane in Greenfield. Jeff was known for his wisecracking, sense of humor and will be missed.
Private family services will be held and burial will be at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield. Memorials are suggested to the Greenfield Tiger Backers or the Greenfield United Methodist Church where he attended as a young man.
