Jo Ann Mansfield Obituary

Jo Ann (Cosgriff) Mansfield, 94, of White Hall passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, in Jacksonville, IL.   She was born November 28, 1931, to William Raymond and Margaret Augusta (Gussie) Stouffe Cosgriff in Jacksonville, IL.  She was the second oldest in her family of seven children, attended Our Saviour grade school and graduated from Routt Catholic High School in 1949.  After graduating, she worked in several office jobs in Jacksonville, Springfield and Decatur.

She married Darrell Lee Mansfield in Santa Fe, NM on June 20, 1963, where they resided until returning to White Hall to engage in the family farming operation in 1966.  They celebrated more than 50 years of marriage before his passing on March 19, 2018.

She is survived by son, Donald Alonzo (Lon) and his wife Debbie of White Hall, and daughter, Lea Ann Brannan and her husband Steve of Jacksonville, and bonus daughter, Julie Marie King and her husband Tim of Olathe, KS.

She leaves behind grandsons, Joseph (Joe) Riley Brannan (Jana) and their son Braylen James of Janesville, WI; Keaten P. Mansfield of Jerseyville; and granddaughter Brooke Jillian Brannan of Jacksonville.  She had the joy of five bonus grandsons, their spouses and children:  Andrew Timothy King (Nicole); John Seely King (Mary) and children Carter and Claire; Daniel Taylor King (Tracy) and daughter Harper; and Matthew Christopher (Maddie) King all of Kansas along with Jordan Walters (Shania) and children Alexander, Tannin, Raylee and Macie of White Hall.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Louise (Marge) Clarke of Farmersville and her brother Raymond Lee Cosgriff of Jacksonville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darrell, sisters Mary Elizabeth Farmer and Doris Jean Joseph and brothers Gerald William and James Theodore.

She enjoyed being a dedicated farm wife, homemaker, mother and beloved grandmother.  She worked diligently in her garden and yard tending to her many plants and flowers.  She always enjoyed searching antique shops and shows looking for one more piece to add to her many treasured collections.  The last years of her life proved she was a fighter and undeniably a member of “The Greatest Generation.”  Special thanks go to her sister, Marge, for her unwavering attention and love.
