Joy D. Pitman, 91, of Waverly, formerly of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, July 23 at Arcadia Care in Auburn, IL. She was born January 11, 1932 in Scott County, IL. to Kenneth O. and Kathryn V. (Crissinger) Lamb. She married Loyd B. Pitman, May 2, 1953 in Waverly, and he preceded her in death December 28, 1996.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathryn Pitman of Greenfield, Karen (Don) Stayton of Waverly, and Kay Manns of Springfield, grandchildren, Kerri Hamel, Tiffany (Tyrone) White, Kenny (Deb) Stayton, Elizabeth (Brandon) Reno, Steven (Makenzie) Lyles, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother Robert Lamb.
Joy was homemaker and loved to take care of her family, grand babies and babysitting with her “extra” babies. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and square dancing. She also enjoyed bird watching, especially cardinals and finches. She will be missed.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, July 27 at the Shields-Bishop funeral home in Greenfield.
Visitation will be from 10 am until time of funeral service.
Burial will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield. Memorials are suggested to the Waverly Rescue Squad or the Greenfield Public Library. The Shields-Bishop funeral home is assisting the family. Please leave a memory or condolence at shields-bishopfh.com.
