Larry D. Featherstone

Larry Featherstone, 71, of Greenfield died Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born in Carrollton on August 30, 1950, to Dale and Eloise Featherstone, both deceased. He married Linda Hall, November 27, 1970, at the Greenfield United Methodist Church, and she survives.

Also surviving is a son, Lance (Tammy) Featherstone, of Greenfield, a daughter, Lisa (Mark) Claypool of Chatham and a granddaughter Kaitlyn Claypool, two brothers, Jay (Deloris) Featherstone, of Franklin and James (Cindy) Featherstone, of Rockbridge, three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Meng of Greenfield, Patricia King of New Brighton, MN., and Sharon Hall of Bloomington, MN, an aunt, Faye Dwyer of Carlinville, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Larry was a 1968 graduate of Greenfield High School where he was co-captain of the football team and valedictorian of his senior class. He graduated from Illinois State University in 1972.  He worked in agri-business for several years and then returned to the family farm which he operated until his retirement in 2016. He also worked as a crop insurance adjuster for several companies.  He enjoyed playing golf, watching football, hunting and being outdoors.  He loved his family, and most of all he loved seeing his beloved Kaitlyn grow up, and be a part of all her activities.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a memorial service will be held at the Greenfield United Methodist Church at 11 am, Wednesday, February 23, 2022.  Visitation will be from 9:30 until time of service.  Inurnment will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery, north of Greenfield.
