Lavina was born and raised in rural Palmyra, graduating in 1954 from Northwestern High School. After graduation, she worked at Franklin Life in Springfield while still helping on the family farm. After marrying Harvey, she made the move to his farm in rural Greenfield, where they raised their five children. Lavina farmed most of her life, first with her father and brother, then with Harvey, and then finally bringing meals to the field. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed. She touched many with her big smile and will be remembered for her delicious homemade pies. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenfield.
Harvey and Lavina enjoyed traveling later in life, especially to Branson, but she loved being home the best of all.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 29, at 11 am at the First Baptist Church, north of Greenfield. Visitation will be held from 9 am until time of service. Burial will follow at the Hickory Grove Cemetery near Wrights. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church. The Shields-Bishop Funeral Home is assisting the family.
