Mary Louise Baldes, 91 of rural Greenfield, passed away Monday, January 2, at the White Hall Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born February 17, 1925 in Carrollton to Leslie and Mary (Taylor) Wollenweber. She married Clyde F. Baldes July 24, 1944 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death February 22, 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Sharon (John) Koster of Carrollton, and Janet Liesenfelt of White Hall, three grandchildren, Ann Koster (Davey), John A Koster (Beth) both of Carrollton, and Jay (Dominique) Seymoure of Greenfield, two great-granddaughters, Madalyn Rose and Meredyth Grace Koster, a sister, Judy (Randall) Rhoads and a brother Ed (Nancy) Wollenweber all of Carrollton, a sister-in-law, Joyce Wollenweber of Greenfield, a brother-in-law, Stephen Grummel II of Jacksonville, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Betty "Sue" Grummel, brothers Dick, Sam, Bob, and infant siblings, Elsie, Doris, and Kenneth, and a son-in-law, Carl Liesenfelt, and a nephew David Wollenweber.
Louise was a homemaker, helped her husband on the farm, and cooked at the Greenfield Elementary School. She enjoyed bowling, cooking and quilting with the Union ladies. She was very patriotic and voted in every election. She cared for others, but loved spending time with her family, especially her great-granddaughters.
Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 am until time of funeral service at 11 at the First Baptist Church north of Greenfield. Burial will follow at the Hickory Grove Cemetery near Wrights. Memorials are suggested to the "We Care" Food Pantry for Greene County or the James J. Eldred House.
