Mary Lee Longmeyer

Mary Lee Longmeyer, 70, of Jacksonville, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born November 30, 1947 in Carrollton to F.J. (Joe) and Lucy (Wood) Longmeyer.

Surviving are three brothers and one brother-in-law, F.J. (Joe) (Marilyn) Longmeyer of Freeport, IL, John (Janice) Longmeyer of Louisville, KY., George Longmeyer of Chicago and Joe McCormick of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are numerous cousins and 15 nieces and nephews that she absolutely adored and strongly supported throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Margaret McCormick. 

Mary Lee was a graduate of Greenfield Highs School and Passavant School of Nursing in 1970. Her nursing career spanned over 40 years in the surgical department at Passavant. She was a member of the Passavant School of Nursing Alumni and the Christian Women’s Connection, and served as a past officer in the Junior Woman’s Club in Jacksonville. She was a member of the St. Michael Church in Greenfield, and attended Our Savior in Jacksonville. She and her friend of many years, Bernie Hoagland, traveled many miles together including to her beloved St. Louis Cardinals ballgames in St. Louis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday, June 9 at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Greenfield.  Visitation will be from 9 am until time of mass. Burial will follow at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Carrollton.
