Michael Pieper, 77, of Carrollton, died July 5, 2026, at his home. He was born June 23, 1949, to Paul and Helen (Heaton) Pieper. He married Janet Stendeback Pieper, and she survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mike graduated from Jacksonville High School, St. Louis University, and received his MBA from Sangamon State University. When he was younger, he played baseball in Jacksonville.
He went on many vacations with is brother-in-law, Bob, where they spent their time in or around water, fishing, boating, riding jet skis and anything else water related. He loved camping and spending time at his cabin on the Illinois river. He had a special spot in his heart for all the animals that shared his life. Mike retired from the Illinois Department of public Health.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 9, from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Carrollton. Cremation rites will follow the service, and a private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Greene County Gas Cards for Cancer Patients or the Carrollton Public Library. The Shields-Bishop Funeral Home is assisting the family.
