Michael Anthony Rawe died Saturday, May 4, 2024 in Jacksonville. He was born May 15, 1962 in Carrollton to Fred and Barbara (Kuhnline) Rawe.
Michael is survived by siblings, John of Lewisburg, TN, Martha of Greenfield, Rita (Don) Franklin of Roodhouse, Margaret (Greg) Weeter of Jessieville, AR, Barbara Staneff of Redmond, WA, Carol Knisley (Dean) Bishop of Greenfield, Jerry (Traci) of Carrollton, Alice (John) Lucchesi of Springfield, Theresa (John) Ebrey of Franklin, Tricia (Allen) Maberry of Winchester and a brother-in-law, Gary Bunde of Pensacola, FL., aunts, Kathie Kuhnline of Alton and Sr. Mary Thecla Kuhnline O.P. of Springfield. Many nieces and nephews survive as well as Michael’s Pathway home family and his caregivers there.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Sr. Lucy Ruth Rawe, S.L. and Virginia Rawe Bunde, sister-in-law, Bettie Rawe, brothers-in-law, Mike Knisley and John Staneff, niece Kim Rawe and his godparents, Joe Nord and Virginia Bunde.
Michael had Down Syndrome and received early training through Pathway Services in Jacksonville. His start in the Pathway Day Program was facilitated by Sharon Koster and his parents were very grateful to her. On May 1, 1984, he became a resident in a Pathway Services group home where he was lovingly cared for, for 40 years until his death.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 11, at St. Michael’s Church in Greenfield. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of service at the church. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Carrollton. Memorials are suggested to the St. John’s School Building Fund in Carrollton or the Pathway Services Unlimited.
