Nena Kay Harper, 61, of Pocahontas, IL. died April 3, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, IL. She was born January 11, 1962 in Carrollton, to John D. and Dorothy J. (Strahan) Harper.
Surviving is her sister, Karen (Jeff) Conlee, “adopted” son, Chris Wempe, nephew, Zachariah Conlee, uncle, Alvin (Theresa) Strahan, aunts, Nancy Van Winkle, and Carol (Bill) Lipsmire.
She was preceded in death by her parents and significant other, John Wempe.
Nena graduated from Greenfield High School in 1980 and SIUE with a B.S. in Psychology. She worked for the United Cerebral Palsy Association as a counselor. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and loved her “furry” family.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a graveside service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, April 15, at the Union Cemetery near Greenfield. The Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield is assisting the family. Please leave a memory or condolence at shields-bishopfh.com
