 Raymond Allen, 80, of rural Greenfield, died Monday, July 24, at White Hall Nursing and Rehab Center.  He was born December 23, 1936 in Greene County to John Harley and Ida Irene (Bowers) Allen.  He married Carolyn Allen September 29, 1963 at the Wrights Baptist Church and she survives.

 

     Also surviving is a daughter, Rayna (Timothy) Latronico of Pekin, two sons, Steven (Janet) Allen of Mt Pulaski, and Robert (Anamaria) Allen of Salisbury, NY,  nine grandchildren, Jessica and Skyler Allen, Michael Cottingham, Darrin and Chris Newman, Steven Ray Allen, and Mimi, Timothy II, and Abigail Latronico, three sisters, Lois Baker of Springfield, Joyce Harbaugh of Winchester, and Ruby McMurl of Macomb.   He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Rosemary Rives, Lucy Ridder, Elizabeth Allen, and Della Kinser, and two brothers, William and Edgar "David" Allen.  

 

      Ray served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Athensville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, a Cub Scout, Webelo, and Boy Scout Leader. He retired from Caterpillar in Peoria.  He also served as the Schaeferville Fire Chief, was a member of the Shriners, and the Fieldon Masonic Lodge #0592.  He enjoyed golfing and fishing.

 

     Visitation will be Friday from 9 am until time of funeral services at 11 at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield.  Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery north of Greenfield with full military rites provided by the Tri-County Honor Guard.
