Rex E Wood

Rex E. Wood, 67, of rural Greenfield passed away Tuesday, September 19, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.  He was born January 10, 1950 in Carlinville to Von and Loretta (Knetzer) Wood.  He married Kimberly Boente on January 10, 1975, and she survives.

Also surviving is a daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Stuart, a son, Ryan (Hanna) Wood, four grandchildren, Bryce Stuart, Emma, Leah, and Mara Wood, all of Greenfield; three sisters, Norma (Joe) Tepen of Roodhouse, Martha Hopper of Jacksonville, and Peggy (Tom) Estrella of Sacramento, Ca., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Ronald Hart.

Mr. Wood served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969 until 1971.  He served on the honor guard at Arlington National Cemetery and also was detailed to guard President Nixon.  Rex worked in various trades as a coal miner, welder, and farmer.  He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Cremation rites will be accorded and memorial visitation will be Sunday, September 24 from 1 -3 pm until time of memorial service at 3 at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. Memorial are suggested to the Greenfield Tiger Backer Booster Club.
