Ronald W. Settles

  Ronald W. Settles, 87, of rural Greenfield, died Wednesday, October 16, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.  He was born March 19, 1937 in White Hall to William E. and Ada (Cox) Settles.  He married Shirley Snyder, July 22, 1956 in Carrollton, and she preceded him in death December 25, 1990.

Surviving are his sons, Ronnie (Jane) Settles, Randy (Gina) Settles, and Roger (Mandy) Settles, all of Carrollton, his grandchildren, Elissa (Derek) Graham, Laura (Eric) Boehm, Brendan (Faith) Settles , Garrett Settles, Delaney Settles, Lucas Settles, and Wyatt Settles, his great-grandchildren, Tate, Maely, Grace Lynn, Esther, and Isla, his sisters, Barbara Danyluk, and Sue (Jim) Vinyard, his brother, Billy (Jan) Settles, his sister-in-law, Linda Settles, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Gary and Byron, his sister, Joyce Ann McEvers, and his second wife, Hazel Settles.

Ronald worked as a machinist at Laclede Steel for 41 years and also farmed during those years.  He was a member of the Eldred Baptist Church and a 50-year member of the Masons.

A funeral service will be at 12 noon on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield.  Visitation will start at 9 am, Masonic services will be held at 11:30 just prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at the Carrollton City Cemetery in Carrollton.
