Roy Adam Koehm, 92, of Greenfield, died Monday, June 11, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born December 18, 1925 in Greenfield to Virgil & Mabel (Haven) Koehm. He married Mildred “Mickey” Anderson December 21, 1946 in St. Louis, and she preceded him in death November 25, 2008.
Surviving is a son John Koehm of Reno, NV., a granddaughter Julie (Joe) Zavala of Woodland, CA. a grandson, Adam (Helen) Koehm of Reno, NV., two step-grandchildren, Luke and Theresa, a step-great-granddaughter, Petra, and a brother, George Koehm of Seal Beach, CA. Over the past eight years, he found companionship with a special friend Phyllis Uhlry.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters, Helen and Aileen.
Mr. Koehm was a member of the Greenfield United Methodist Church and a lifelong farmer. He was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humor as well as a strong, hard working individual. One of Roy's favorite hobbies was dancing. He enjoyed country music, square dancing and polka. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and surfing the internet.
A funeral service will be held at 4 pm Saturday, June 16, at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. Visitation will be from 2 until 4 pm at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield. Memorials are suggested to the Greenfield United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. Online condolences can be left at shields-bishopfh.com.
