Our beloved mother, Ruby Donetta Cox (Butler), 71, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She had an immense love for Jesus, was always a prankster, a source of endless laughter, and one of the most generous people you have ever met.
Ruby Donetta Cox was raised in Granite City, Illinois. Ruby was such a joy to be around and had one of the biggest kindest hearts. She absolutely loved the simple things in life. She loved to cook for those she loved, cared for her house plants like they were her children, and of course, swooned over her pup, Jelly Bean.
She is preceded in death by her wonderful loving husband Brian Cox and her parents, Donald and Ruth Butler. She will be profoundly missed by her boys, Jason Yates, Kyle Cox, Donald Yates and Collin Yates; her grandchildren, Taylor Yates, Tristin Yates, Austin Yates, Coltin Yates, Ethin Yates, Kylie Cox, Dylan Cox, Jake Cox and Henry Cox; her siblings, Jan Struberg, Sue Butler, Terry Butler, Dancil Butler and Ava Butler; and a wide circle of friends who loved her dearly.
We will celebrate her beautiful life on October 4th at 10:00am. The service will be held at New Life Church of the Nazarene, 285 Maple Summit Rd in Jerseyville, Illinois.
Come celebrate Ruby’s life and share how she brightened your days and made you laugh. Please leave a memory or condolence at shields-bishopfh.com
