Sherry Elizabeth Hamm, 58, of Greenfield, died Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born March 28, 1960 in Carrollton to Ralph E. and Margaret M. (Parker) Henson. She married Ollie Hamm December 15, 1979 in Greenfield, and he survives.
Also surviving is her mother, a daughter Denise (Tim) McCutcheon, a son Travis Hamm, five sisters, Sandy (Mick) Pembrook of Greenfield, Michelle Wallbaum of Franklin, Becky (Dan) Bishop of Greenfield, Bonnie (Dave) Martin of Newnan, GA. and Connie Shaw of Bloomington, a brother, Randy (Julie) Henson of Greenfield and several nieces and nephews, and her adopted granddaughter, Lillian Costello.
She was preceded in death by her father, and a granddaughter, “Angel-baby”
Sherry was a 1979 Carrollton High School Graduate. After graduation she became a waitress at Sambo’s Restaurant in Jacksonville where she met Ollie. She later became a CNA and worked for 28 years at the Jacksonville Convalescent Center, White Hall Nursing Home, and various other nursing homes in the area. She was a member of Charity Southern Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to Celebrate Recovery and just serving the Lord. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, aunt, and adopted grandmother. She enjoyed being with her family and friends. She never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with a smile, a hug and an “I Love You”.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, June 16, at the First Baptist Church north of Greenfield. A visitation will be held Friday, June 15 from 4 until 8 pm at the church. Burial will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield. Memorials are suggested to the Charity Southern Baptist Church in Greenfield, or the Greene County Relay for Life.
