Terry Eugene Engel

Terry Eugene Engel, 72, of Rural Roodhouse passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side, July 3, 2025. He was born March 29, 1953 in Carrollton, to Eugene and Margie Engel.  He met his spouse, Debra Engel, in 2006 and were later married November 2, 2020, at their farm, and she survives.

Also surviving are his children, Christy L. (Mark) Rollins of Roodhouse, Richard C. Sanson (companion Lorna Thimsen) of Mt. Olive, three grandchildren, Daniel L Bell, Michael D. Rollins, and Alaina I. Sanson, his sister, Marilyn Beltram and niece Danielle Emmet, both of Winsor, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Terry was a farmer his entire life.  He spent 22 years working for the Local 965 as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement at the age of 65.  He also served as a fire fighter with the Mt. Sterling Fire Department for 10 years from 1995 until 2005.

He enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, mushrooming and fishing.  He loved to take side by side rides with his dog Maxie.  He always looked forward to hosting their yearly hummingbird festival.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. 

Per his request, cremation rites will be accorded.  A celebration of life will be held at his home, 1424 NE 1500 Street, Roodhouse, IL. 62082, Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 1 until 3 pm.  Memorials are suggested to the Greenfield High School FFA program and can be mailed to the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home at 604 Walnut St., Greenfield, Illinois 62044.  Please leave a memory or condolence at shields-bishopfh.com
