Vern Converse Range, 88, of rural Greenfield died the afternoon of Wednesday December 12, 2018, at his home surrounded by close family. He was born August 20, 1930, in Greene County, the son of Jesse Warren and Wilma Ray Converse Range.
He married Marjorie Ann Goode on May 14, 1951, at the First Baptist Church in Greenfield. She preceded him in death June 24, 2000, after 49 years of marriage.
Mr. Range is survived by two daughters: Teresa (husband, Lindell) Rynders of Greenfield, and Charlene (husband, Kenny) Schutz of White Hall. He is also survived by four sons: Steven, Dennis (wife, Sara), and Darold (wife, Sherry) all of Greenfield, and Roger of Carrollton.
Mr. Range is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Range is survived by his sisters, Guylia (husband, Jim) Loftus of Springfield, and Charlot (husband, Kendall) Cole of Virden. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wilfred and Loyal.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He spent his life farming, which he loved.
Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church north of Greenfield from 4 to 8 PM on Sunday, December the 16th, with a Masonic Service to follow at 8. Funeral Services will be held at 10AM on Monday at the church. Burial will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield. Memorials are suggested to Greene County Hospice.
