William Anderson ("Bill") Walker

William Anderson “Bill” Walker, 78, of Greenfield, died Sunday, August 11, at Lakeside Health and Rehab Center in Carlinville.  He was born January 22, 1946 in Carrollton to LeRoy and Pauline (Scott) Walker.  He married Mary Eleise Frazier, December 3, 1965 in Carrollton, and she survives.

Also surviving are his daughters, Mandy Bayless of Greenfield, Angie (Jon) Langellier of Virden, and Hanna Wood of Greenfield, his grandchildren, Shelby Bayless, Ben Bayless, Madeline (Colt) Hubble, Zayne (Maddy Robinette) Langellier, Evan Langellier, Emma Wood, Leah Wood, and Mara Wood, great-granddaughter, Rory Hubble, his sisters, Wanda Ross, Debbie Joyce, and Brenda Gaffney, his brothers Dean Walker and Jack Walker, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Frances Hodgerson, Barb Wagner, Randy Walker, Carroll Walker and Darrell Eugene Walker.

Bill was a 1966 graduate of Greenfield High School.  He played independent basketball and softball for many years. He farmed for a time before starting a 40-year career with the Bob Lamb Company in Greenfield.  He enjoyed deer hunting with family and friends, but especially loved his family and following his children’s and grandchildren’s life activities.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a memorial service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 12 pm at the First Baptist Church north of Greenfield.

Visitation will be from 10 am until time of memorial service at the church.  Inurnment will follow at the Oak Wood Cemetery north of Greenfield.  Memorials are suggested to the Greenfield High School FFA program or the Greenfield Public Library.
